FInders Keepers End Up Weepers

August 10, 2012

Remember the old saying “Finders keepers, losers weepers”?  Well, that is just a saying and doesn’t hold water, at least not for Raman Diaz Najera.  Najera found a wallet  with $2,000 cash in it and he kept it.  Problem is, he is not the keeper but he is the weeper.

The owner of the wallet called the police to report he had dropped the wallet in a HEB in Leander, TX.  The police were able to review and identify Najera picking up the wallet, taking the cash and leaving the wallet without trying to contact the owner of notify police of his findings.  Najera admitted to taking the cash and is now facing a state jail felony theft charge.

A state jail felony can be punished by up to  two years in a state jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000.  Now Najera is facing these punishments, along with having to go through the court process in this case.

The point: if it doesn’t belong to you, don’t take it, because the finders end up being the losers and the weepers!
