Unexpected Visitors

August 8, 2012

You never know what situation may have the police knocking unexpectedly at your door.  For Marcelino Aguirre of Caldwell County, it was a visit from Child Protective Services with local law enforcement.  They were responding to a complaint about the welfare of a child in the home.  It is reported that Aguirre reached for a rifle while he was being interviewed.  This action led to his arrest and then a search warrant to search his home.

The search was a jack pot for the sheriff’s department.  Not only were 31 handguns and 25 long guns, protective vests, and 4000 rounds of ammo found, 1.8 ounces of meth, marijuana and heroin residue were also found.  The search also resulted in $45,919 being seized as well.  He was charged with unlawful possession of metal or body armor by a felon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a controlled substance.

Aguirre does have a criminal record, so the arsenal of weapons found in his home became federal charges for possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of unregistered firearms.  Now Aguirre is sitting in a jail cell, all because of a concerned call to Child Protective Services.
